05:58 pm - Thought I'd introduce myself
...since I'm new here.

I'm Danielle, and I'm going to be a freshman this Fall. I'm majoring in Nursing, and I'm really excited to see what it's going to be like, and also a little nervous since I know it's going to be really tough...but that's okay! :) I'm from central Jersey, and am so excited to get to TCNJ and see what it's like!

03:52 pm - Stuff to do.
Bored in Jersey?  One of our awesome alumns contributes to a website that reviews Restaurants, Clubs, Bars, & things to do.  It's witty and interesting - check it out.

On the website, you may notice that there is an open invitation to their Launch Party (4/20) in Hoboken (for those of you old enough).  $5 cover, $1 drinks (including mixed drinks from what I gather).

02:44 am - Yearbook Deadline Approaching
Don't forget to order your yearbook before April 1 if you are getting one, otherwise it will cost $15 more. http://www.tcnj.edu/~seal/. They also have more dates in April to take your picture if you haven't already. Just check the site for dates.

I'm posting this because I am appalled at how bad advertising is on campus for many things. The graduation deadline was publicized so poorly that I wanted to give some people a chance to save a little money. I have no affiliation with the yearbook.

03:07 pm - Ahh, the housing rush.
So this might be a bit of a stupid question, but I figured it'd be good to get some confirmation.

Housing contracts -- the ResLife site makes it seem like we'll just get them when we go to get our room assignments, and won't have to go early to pick them up like in past years. Is this a reasonable assumption, or did I completely miss something?

04:42 pm - Snow and Ice
Was anyone else more than mildly annoyed at how campus was yesterday while moving in? Half the walkways weren't cleared. Some of the ones that were were iced over anyway... and just in general it was annoying.

-_- Just because we weren't here didn't mean they didn't know we were coming back. sheesh.

08:32 pm - admin stuff
Well, no one has responded to this post, so I'm afraid I will be forced to close this community at the end of the semester. It's a real shame that it won't continue because I think it's been useful for a lot of people. In any case, thanks again for all your support and contributions to this community. You've helped make it great.

Your loyal admin,

02:46 pm - Fun in New Hope
I'd like to know if anyone has been to New Hope and can give me suggestions on a fun place to eat dinner, and also an idea of when shops start to close (particularly on weekends)

Thanks for your help

04:11 pm - So open yer mind already!
This note, signed off on by WTSR Programming Director Danielle Tararuj, appeared in my e-mail today.  As it's not been mentioned in TCNJers yet, I present it to you as a public service.  :-)

*****
WTSR is looking for candidates for the WTSR Board of directors.  You do not need to be a communication major to apply. Here is a list of   the openings we have:

Webmaster - This director updates and maintain our website, www.wtsr.org, as well as design what the website looks like.

Production - This director makes all of the cool sounding promos that promote the station, station events, as well as advertise for shows  that play on WTSR.  Knowledge of  audio editing software such as ProTools or Cool Edit really helps with this position but isn't required.  It's a fun and creative job as well!

Music - the Music Director decides what WTSR sounds like!  The MD reviews music, switches up the CD lineup, chats with labels and  artists to get new CDs into the station.

Grants and Funding - This director handles a lot of the money at WTSR  as well as the ordering of merchandise and prizes.

Public Affairs - This director gets WTSR recognized on campus and in the community as well as reviews public service announcements (PSAs)  to be played on-air.

Sports - This director runs "Sports Countdown," the sports show on  WTSR, as well as coordinates on-campus sports broadcasting and Titans Hockey broadcasting.

Public Relations - This director makes adds, flyers, and is also in charge of the local band section of our music library.  Knowledge of Photoshop or [other] graphic design software helps with this position but is not required.

Promotions - This director distributes flyers, interviews bands, finds venues to promote WTSR, and also coordinates our annual Battle of the Bands.

News - This director coordinates WTSR's news show, "30 Minutes," and also sets up questions for interviewing bands and guests on WTSR.

If anyone is interested in becoming a part of the WTSR Board of Directors, please write a letter of intent including your name, your year, your contact information, and why you would be good at the position you're applying for.  Feel free to apply for more than one position!

Letters of intent are due by March 1st in the Station Manager's mailbox located in the WTSR lounge in the basement of Kendall Hall.

Now, here's what I think of college radio.  Bottom line: if you've been thinking about it, now's the time.

06:53 pm - looking for 3 girls to share a house
Hey! My two friends and I are looking for another group of 3 girls to live with in the Transfer (Off-campus) houses next year. The house is 62 Carlton Ave. I live there right now, and it's a great house. TCNJ owns it, so you just pay regular room and board fees. There's a kitchen (no dishwasher), washer and dryer, living room, 2 bathrooms, 4 singles and a double, and a huge driveway with room for 6 cars. One important note that I'll say right away...2 of you would be in the double. I live here now, and it's HUGE and very nice...but I want a single my senior year :)

For those who don't know, Carlton Ave. is the street that is perpendicular to Pennington (When you head out of the main entrance of school, go straight). The house is within walking, biking, or driving distance to campus. I myself have my bike here, and I have also walked when it's nice. You get a commuter parking sticker which is SO much cheaper than when you live on campus.

The three of us are pretty studious, neat and responsible. We don't really go out and party, but we still like to have fun. There are so many benefits to the house--no rent, no paying for cable, utilities, internet, etc...plus our own washer and dryer, no bugs, and good food we make ourselves. It's an awesome living situation. We want to decorate the house and make it feel like a home! We'd love to find another group of girls that we could get along with and have a great year as a "family."

If you and your 2 friends are currently sophomores or juniors and you may be interested, leave a comment, email me at ladyeowynofnj (at) gmail (dot) com, or im me on AIM -- "theamandaface". If you have any questions at all, please ask! Also, you could totally come check out the house so you know what you're getting into :) Thanks!
Current Location: 62 Carlton!
Current Mood: cheerfulcheerful
